RMRA is an Aboriginal Regional Governance Alliance operating under the NSW Governments Aboriginal Affairs Plan, OCHRE, Local Decision Making (LDM) Initiative. We work within the LDM Framework and are based on the Good Governance Principles.

A Regional body gives strength to our local communities. Individual communities have struggled to have their voices heard for years. RMRA is a culturally appropriate and professional regional voice, which offers involvement of Aboriginal people in decision making around service delivery.

Currently there are ten (10) communities who are members of RMRA – Albury, Cootamundra, Cummeragunja, Deniliquin, Griffith, Hay, Leeton, Narrandera, Tumut and Wagga Wagga.

RMRA allows for a stronger more unified regional governance structure, where communities can feed their priority issues and concerns. RMRA will be able to discuss priority areas directly with government and government funded services to make them accountable for service delivery.

Delegates are selected through community meetings held across the member communities. The delegates are chosen by community. RMRA will do another round of community consultations to confirm or refresh the current community delegates in the first half of 2019.

Currently RMRA meet bi- monthly, rotating meetings across all member communities.

All delegates on RMRA participate voluntarily and receive no sitting fees. They can claim a motor vehicle allowance for travel to and from meetings if using private motor vehicles. All accommodation and meals to attend meetings are covered. The Chairperson is paid part time 2 days a week.

Your community may not be a member of RMRA. RMRA and staff of Aboriginal Affairs want to support communities to be involved if they chose to do so. At present the RMRA are organising consultations across their member communities.
